A correctional officer who was stabbed on Friday morning (November 13) by an inmate at a St. Catherine adult correctional center has died.
Jimel Westley was attacked while unlocking a cell about 9:45 a.m.
Westley was taken to the Spanish Town hospital where he later died.
Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of National Security Matthew Samuda asked Jamaicans to keep the family of Westley in their prayers during a sitting of the Senate.
“I acknowledge it because his family has been advised, he is correctional officer Westley. I asked you all to keep him and his family and his friends in an our prayers,” said Samuda.
