COVID-19 death toll in Jamaica climbs to 171

Jamaica has recorded three new COVID-19 fatalities bringing the islands death toll to 171.

The island also recorded 79 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours which means Jamaica now has 8,274 cases of  the virus of which 4,133 are active.

The majority of the cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew which saw increase an of 53 new cases; eight are from St James, seven are from St Catherine, three each are from St Elizabeth and St Thomas and one is from St Ann.

According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, all of the new cases are under investigation.

The MOHW also revealed that an additional 206 patients had recovered from the virus.
