Jamaica records 245 new COVID-19 cases; death toll rises to 21

Jamaica late Sunday (August 30) recorded an alarming number of new coronavirus cases and one new COVID-19-related death.

According to the latest numbers out of the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) 245 new cases were recorded over the last 24-hours, bringing the country’s active cases to 1,374.

In addition, Jamaica recorded one new COVID-19-related death, that of a 28-year-old woman from St James.

The vast majority of the new cases, 225 cases are under investigation while 12 are contacts of confirmed cases and eight are imported.

The majority of the new cases reside in Kingston & St Andrew followed by St Catherine and St James.

To date Jamaica has 2,357 COVID-19 cases.
