Jamaica reports dip in new COVID-19 infections, deaths rise among elderly

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jamaica have risen to 8,638 with three new deaths recorded.

This is the first time in weeks that the number of newly confirmed cases has been under 50; with the country  reporting 38 new cases of the virus.

According to the latest numbers out of the Ministry of Health and Wellness(MOHW) published on Friday (October 23) the three new deaths were recorded among two males and a female all over the age of 70-years.

Kingston and St Andrew continues to be the site of most new infections with the parish recording  24 new cases and having  3,081 cases in total.

To date Jamaica has 4,156 active cases of the coronavirus.
