Jamaican schools now to reopen on October 5

Jamaican schools will now reopen on October 5, according to the latest information out of the Ministry of Education.

Schools were originally slated to resume on September 7 but the ministry in a release on Friday (August 21) said that due to “unforeseen challenges” it was necessary to delay the reopening.

“We have consulted with the Ministry of Health and Wellness and barring any unforeseen challenges, schools will reopen on a phased basis beginning Monday, October 5, 2020,” said the ministry in its release.

“The re-engagement is based on a blended approach, which includes face to face teaching and learning, online and offline Computer Aided Learning, televised learning and printed learning kits, the MoEYI’s content app and other learning management systems,” added the ministry.
