Jamaica’s COVID-19 death toll spikes to 128

Two new COVID-19 deaths have pushed the number of people who have died from the virus in Jamaica  to 128.

According to the latest information from the Ministry of Health and Wellness on Thursday( October 8) the island recorded 82 new cases of the virus in the last 24 hours.

The deceased are a 59-year-old female from St Elizabeth and an 82-year-old male from Westmoreland whose death was under investigation.

The country now has 7,273 COVID-19 cases, with 4,315 active cases.

154 patients are currently hospitalised; 28 are moderately ill while 12 are in critical condition.
