Jamaica’s COVID-19 tally now at 8,132; death toll continues to rise

There seems to be no end in sight to the uptick in COVID-19 cases, with the island recording 65 new cases and two more deaths.

The latest information from the Ministry of Health and Wellness brings the number of confirmed cases to 8,132 and the death toll to 162.

The bulk of the new cases were recorded in St Catherine and St James, while Kingston and St Andrew recorded only six new cases.

While recoveries have not began to outpace new cases, the latest patients who have recovered from the illness brings the total recoveries to 3,653 while active cases are now at 4,209.

Close to 200 patients are hospitalised for the virus with 48 patients described as moderately ill and 16 as in critical condition.
