Just In: Two cops injured in confrontation with gunmen on Constant Spring Road

Two policemen were shot and injured early Thursday morning (July 23) following a confrontation with alleged gunmen on Constant Spring Road.

One of the alleged gunmen was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) confirmed the incident in a release moments ago.

Reports are that about 1:30 a.m., the police were on patrol in the area when they observed a white Honda Civic motorcar parked on the roadway just before the Dunrobin Avenue intersection.

The team then approached the vehicle and attempted to make enquires; when the men immediately opened fire on the Policemen, hitting them both before attempting to flee the scene.

The injured officers returned the gunfire and the car subsequently crashed a short distance away.

One of the armed men ran from the vehicle and the driver- who received a gunshot wound was held.

All three persons were taken to the hospital where the unidentified man was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.

The lawmen are currently being treated.
