Landslides in rural St Andrew and St Thomas, some roadways impassable

Motorists are being advised that due to the heavy rains over much of the island on Sunday (August 23) sections of the Gordon Town main road in St Andrew and the Trinityville main road in St Thomas have been blocked.

The heavy rains resulted in landslides which have rendered some sections of the roads in both parishes impassable.

Residents report that in the vicinity of Dam Head in Gordon Town the road is impassable.

In addition, a bridge at Trinityville Road, St. Thomas has been washed away by flood waters.

Residents of Trinityville, Georgia and Cedar Valley in St. Thomas have been impacted as there is no established alternative route.

According to an early Monday morning update, the relevant agencies had been made aware of the situation and efforts were underway to restore access to the roadway.
