Sights from across Jamaica as TS Laura passes

Tropical Storm Laura brought significant shower activity across the island on Sunday (August 23).

While the National Hurricane Centre and the local Met Service had earlier warned Jamaicans about the potential for flash floods, no one anticipated the successive peals of thunder coupled with the intermittent flashes of lightning which were followed by a heavy downpour of rain.

Did you see the deep orange, and in some sightings, purple coloured sky ?

The sky caught the attention of many Jamaicans buzzing about the weather online.

While the downpour may have brought some much needed relief to the island, particularly as it has been grappling with an on-going water crisis, TS Laura also further deteriorated the conditions of some roadways, with residents in rural St Andrew and St Mary sharing videos of the damage.
