Video: Robbery foiled in Negril, assailant arrested after turning up at station

A suspected robber was taken into custody after he arrived at a police station in Negril, Westmoreland  to make a report on Wednesday (August 12).

Reports from the Negril Police are that about 9:20 a.m., a man was driving his motor car along the Norman Manley Boulevard when two would-be robbers on a motorcycle, one armed with a gun, pointed the weapon at him.

The driver of the motorcar then allegedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with the assailants on the motorcycle; both vehicles then crashed onto a nearby premises.

One of the assailants later turned up at the station to make a report and was arrested.

During the investigation, the Police returned to the scene of the incident and the other robber was seen lying along the roadway with the firearm and ammunition in his hand.

He was taken to hospital and placed under Police guard. 

 A 9mm pistol and seven rounds of ammunition were seized in the incident. 

A report was later made to the police by the driver of the motorcar.
