The Siparia Magistrates’ Court in Trinidad closed on Friday (July 31) over COVID-19 fears.
The court announced that it would be closing after one of its staff members had close contact with an infected person.
According to the institution, closing the building is a precautionary measure, as the staff member has not tested positive for COVID-19.
While physical hearings and activities will cease, virtual court hearings will continue until further notice.
Currently, Trinidad and Tobago has 169 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
