Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has named Kamala Harris as his running mate.
The announcement means that the California senator Harris will be first Black American woman to run on a major political party’s presidential ticket.
Harris will debate Mr Trump’s running mate, Vice-President Mike Pence, on 7 October in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Harris the former California attorney general has been urging police reform amid nationwide anti-racism protests.
Biden will face President Donald Trump when American head to the poll November 3.
