The Meteorological Service in a Tweet on Wednesday (October 28) said that a tropical wave was nearing Jamaica.
The weather system is expected to produce wet weather conditions for the island going into Thursday.
With a Tropical Wave nearing Jamaica, here is Wednesday's Forecast:
This Afternoon… Becoming cloudy with periods of showers and thunderstorms across sections of most parishes.
Tonight… Lingering showers across sections of most parishes, otherwise cloudy.— MetServiceJA (@MetserviceJA) October 28, 2020
Following the passage of Tropical Storm Zeta,Head of the Met Service Rohan Brown explained that there was a weak high pressure system which reduced rainfall and bring more stable conditions to the Jamaica area.
However, the weak high pressure ridge dissipated quickly making way for another trough system which is currently contributing to the cloudy and wet conditions.
Lingering showers across sections of most parishes and cloudy are expected to persist through the end of the week.
