Court returns guilty verdict in murder case involving Mavado’s son

Dante Brooks, the son of dancehall heavyweight Mavado, is expected to return to court on March 10 for sentencing, after the teen was found guilty of murder on Wednesday (January 27) in the Home Circuit Court.

Brooks was charged jointly with 23-year-old Andre Hines for the murder of Lorenzo Thomas in the St. Andrew community of Cassava Piece.

The court heard that on June 5, 2018, men carrying weapons invaded Thomas’ home in the community, where he was shot, beheaded and his body set ablaze.

Prosecutors alleged that the teenager and Hines were  a part of the group which executed the attack.

Hines was also found guilty.
