‘Deeply saddened’: PM sends condolences to the family of Tony Hart

Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Thursday (August 20) said he was “deeply saddened after learning of the passing of Jamaican  businessman Anthony ‘Tony’ Hart.

87-year-old Hart died early this morning; it is reported that had suffered from a brief bout of pneumonia.

“I extend heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine on him,” said Holness on his Facebook page.

The PM described Hart as a Jamaican stalwart and legendary businessman, noting that his life exemplified service, having served in many sectors including politics.

Hart ran as a candidate for the Jamaica Labour Party in 1972.

Hewas inducted into the PSOJ Hall of Fame and he was awarded Jamaica’s fourth highest honour, the Order of Distinction, Commander Class, for his distinguished and faithful service.
