India’s vaccine gift arrives in Jamaica

Approximately 50,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines, donated by India, arrived in Jamaica this afternoon.

The Den understands that the plane which transported the vaccines arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA)at around 4:30 p.m.

Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of National Security Matthew Samuda shared photos of the newly arrived vaccines on his Twitter account.

“Covid 19 Vaccines on the ground in Jamaica,” said Samuda on Twitter.

The vaccines will be stored at the National Health Fund’s warehouse on Marcus Garvey Drive.

According to Chief Medical Officer, Jacqueline Bisasor McKenzie, Jamaica will begin its rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday (March 10).
