A Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier severed a man’s hand during a robbery on Wednesday night (December 30) in Bog Walk, St Catherine.
Reports are that the soldier was driving his motor car towards Spanish town when he made a stop along the roadway.
During the stop, the soldier was reportedly approached by four men, one of them armed with a gun.
According to the soldier the men attempted to rob him of his vehicle, demanding that he hand over his keys.
It is understood that a tussle ensued and the soldier pulled a cutlass from his waist, which he used to severe one of the men’s hands.
Three of the men were later apprehended by police.
