Man arrested in connection with killing of Westmoreland businessman

A 26-year-old man was arrested Wednesday (October 7) after he shot and killed a man at his business place in Westmoreland and injured several others.

Ryan Myrie, otherwise called ‘Old Boy’, of Bay Road, Little London in the parish has been charged with Murder and three counts of Shooting with Intent.

Reports are that about 2:30 p.m., Myrie—who was armed with a gun—allegedly pounced upon the deceased at his business place and demanded money; when the demand was not met, Myrie reportedly shot the businessman several times.

A tussle reportedly ensued and Myrie was reportedly shot in his abdomen. Myrie also reportedly fired several shots as he escaped, resulting in the injury of three people, including a 3-month-old baby.

A report was made and Myrie was subsequently arrested and placed on an identification parade, where he was pointed out. He was charged following an interview in the presence of his attorney.

The dead man has been identified as  58-year-old Devon Clarke, otherwise called ‘Babsy’, a businessman of Darliston.

Another man, suspected to have been Myrie’s accomplice, is currently being sought by the police.
