An Old Harbour, St. Catherine woman has been arrested in connection with two 2019 incidents in which she received $9million under the pretense that she was a securities dealer.
54-year-old Meghan McGuire -Roy of Marlie Mount, Old Harbour was charged on Monday (July 6) with Dealing in Securities Without a Licence and Obtaining Money by Means of False Pretence
Reports are that between August and November 2019, a man made deposits totalling JMD 9,000,000 to McGuire Roy’s account.
The man later became suspicious and decided to contact the Financial Service Commission where he learnt that McGuire-Roy was not licensed to carry out such services.
McGurie- Roy’s court date is being finalized.
