Probe launched after teen ‘cop’ reports for duty at Spanish Town station

Investigations are currently underway after it was discovered that a 15-year-old boy had impersonated a policeman and was placed on active duty at the Spanish Town police station on Wednesday (July 29).

The Den understands that on the above date, the teen clad in the full Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) police uniform, with the regulation number 20448, and other JCF accoutrement attended work at the station.

The teen was posted on duty at the police station’s reception area from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.

It was later revealed that the teen was not a member of the JCF and had gotten the uniform from a constable attached to the St Andrew Central Division, who is usually on active duty at the Denham Town police station.

The teen is a student of the Jamaican-German Automotive School.

A source close to the incident told The Den that it is believed that an officer did not want to work a late shift and employed a friend to cover for him.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
