Rain expected in the Jamaica area as NHC monitors three weather systems in the Atlantic

The National Hurricane Centre is monitoring  three weather systems in the Atlantic.

In an update on Tuesday (August 31) the NHC said the latest system Tropical Depression Twelve  could strengthen into a tropical storm by Wednesday.

Tropical Depression Twelve if it picks up strength would be named Larry.

Other systems in the Atlantic are Tropical Storm Kate and an area of low pressure which is producing  disorganized showers over the southwestern Caribbean.

It is this broad area of low pressure that is of concern for Jamaica.

However the NHC said  that it had a 20 per cent chance of developing into an organized system.

Irrespective of the systems development, heavy rains are  possible over the Jamaica area.
