Tributes pour in for beloved Ocho Rios High School teacher following her passing

Tributes have been pouring in for beloved teacher Carole Davis-Cunningham, following news of her passing.

Davis-Cunningham, who taught at the Ocho Rios High School, passed away on Tuesday (November 2).

The Ocho Rios High School confirmed Davis-Cunningham’s passing in a post on their Facebook page.

Davis-Cunningham is being remembered by colleagues and students alike as a dedicated teacher, who went above and beyond the call of duty.

Former president of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, Owen Spied, said Davis Cunningham was among his supporters during his tenure at the organization.

“Sis Carole, you more than anyone encouraged me to run for JTA’s presidency the third time of asking. Now you’re gone but not forgotten,” said Spied.

“My condolences to the immediate family, friends and the Ocho Rios High School family. Sleep in peace,” added Spied.

Another colleague though saddened by her passing said she was grateful for all the good times spent with Davis Cunningham.

“I was blessed to have known Mrs.Carole Davis Cunningham. And I am happy we got to talk about life, encourage and pray for each other, eat some good food and laugh together,” said Davis Cunnigham’s colleagues.

“She believed in me. I will miss her, but I know there is hope in Christ even after we have left this life. So,  my tears now are only because I will miss her friendship, but I also believe she is home now and happy,” added the colleague.

Davis-Cunningham,was also fondly remembered by her students; some of whom noted that she also served as  a “mother” figure.

“This lady here was my form teacher in high school when I was attending the Ocho Rios High. She was not just a teacher. She was a mother to me,” said the former student.

“She was a disciplinarian. She left an indelible mark. We loved her so much,” added another former student.
