Tropical Depression Nine to bring heavy rains and flash flooding across Jamaica

Recently formed Tropical Depression Nine has been impacting weather conditions over Jamaica.

The Met Service on Thursday(August 26) issued a flash flood warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas of central and eastern parishes.

According to the Met Service, the system is expected to linger across the Jamaica area until early Saturday (August 28).

Increased shower activity, thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds are expected during this period.

According to the NHC, the center of Tropical Depression Nine is located near latitude 16.9 North, longitude 79.2 West.

On the forecast track, the center of the depression will pass near the Cayman Islands on Thursday night.

The system is forecasted to approach the U.S. northern Gulf coast on Sunday.

Currently there are three weather systems in the Atlantic.
