The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) has said that power supply could be impacted as a result of the recent Sahara dust plume episode.
Despite the dust plume no longer impacting weather conditions, JPS Vice President for Energy Delivery Blaine Jarrett said the settling of the dust on service delivery equipment could lead to power outages.
Jarrett further said that the dust could also result in short circuit conditions, particularly if there is light rain.
However, Jarrett said that the JPS had teams in place monitoring the situation, who would be able to respond quickly in the event of a power outage.
