Jamaican sprinter, Warren Weir, has sought to distance himself from the controversial church leader Kevin O Smith.
Weir in his Instagram story on Wednesday (October 20) shared that he had no affiliation with Smith, after a photo of the two surfaced online.
“Athletes are often asked for photos. It’s a courtesy most athletes and entertainers extend without knowing anything about the people we take these photos with,” he said..
“Please note I neither knew nor have ever associated with the “pastor” in that photo currently circulating,” he added.
Smith captured national attention over the weekend following a bizarre ritual in his church.
The ritual left two individuals dead and a third killed by police who tried to intervene.
Smith is pastor of the Pathway International Kingdom Restoration Ministries located in St James.
