Jeopardy! Host Alex Trebek dead at 80

The host of one of the longest running quiz shows in America, Alex Trebek, has died.

According to a tweet put out by the official “Jeopardy!” account, 80-year-old Trebek died at home early Sunday (November 8) surrounded by family and friends.

Trebek who began hosting the quiz show in the 80’s worked in the role for more than 30-years and based on his contract was set to continue hosting the show until 2022, when his contract was set to expire.

Canadian born Trebek in 2019 revealed he had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.

“I have lived a good life, a full life and I’m nearing the end of that life,” he told USA Today in October 2019.
