T&T dog owner hits boy with iron bar for shooing away pet

A dog owner in Trinidad and Tobago was taken into police custody after he allegedly used an iron bar to knock a 14-year-old boy unconscious.

Reports are that the 37-year-old man was at home with the boy and his younger sister when the incident occurred.

It is understood that the dog tried to attack the boy’s sister and the 14-year-old intervened, shooing away the pet.

The pet owner allegedly became upset with the way the boy dealt with the animal and choked him, later using an iron bar to knock the boy unconscious.

The boy was rushed to hospital, where a doctor referred the matter to the Child Protection Unit.

The man was subsequently charged with child cruelty.
