US looks to reclassify ganja as less dangerous drug

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration(DEA) is set to reclassify ganja as a less dangerous drug.

Ganja is currently considered a Schedule I drug, with a high abuse risk. Schedule I drugs have no safe, accepted medical use in the United States.

It is understood that a recommendation will be sent to the White House on Tuesday to “reschedule marijuana” though it is unclear what the new classification would be.

Despite many US states have legalized use of ganja including California and New York under US federal law cannabis is still illegal.
