Deadly Friday in Trelawny, three perish in car crashes

Three people were killed and one person injured in two crashes which occurred along the North Coast Highway in Trelawny on Friday (July 26).

The first incident occurred about 7:10 a.m in the vicinity of Coral Springs on the North Coast Highway and claimed the life of 48-year-old Devrol Samuels, a delivery man of Chatham district in St. James.

Reports from the Falmouth Police are that Samuels was driving his motor car towards St. Ann along the highway when the collision occurred.

It is understood that a driver, operating a Toyota Wish, entering from a minor road collided into Samuel’s vehicle, causing him to veer to the other side of the road crashing into a bus stop there.

Samuels and his passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment, where Samuels was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Toyota Wish reported no injuries. He has since been warned for prosecution.

The second incident also occurred on the North Coast Highway, and claimed the lives of two persons.

Reports are that about 11:30 a.m., a Toyota Voxy motor car was overtaking a line of traffic in the vicinity of the Duncans bypass when it collided head on with a Toyota Corolla motor car.

Both the driver of the Toyota Corolla motor car—49-year-old Julien Patrick of Friendship district in Trelawny—and his passenger, 48-year-old Linwall Adlam were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

The driver of the Toyota Voxy motor car also received multiple injuries and was admitted into hospital for treatment.
