Hurricane Beryl: Rainfall from outer bands begin impacting Jamaica

The National Hurricane Centre (NHC) on Wednesday (Jul 3) in its 5:00 a.m. bulletin, said that hurricane force winds among other features of Beryl would begin impacting the island within 2-3 hours.

Beryl remains a powerful category 4 storm with the system expected to be at or near major hurricane intensity when it reaches Jamaica later today.

Rainfall from the outer bands of the system have begun affecting sections of Jamaica, with the island projected to receive an estimated 4 to 8 inches of rainfall.

At 4:00 a.m. the eye of Hurricane Beryl was located near latitude 16.6 degrees north, longitude 74.4 west, approximately 240km (150 miles) east south-east of Morant Point.
