Jamaica’s Lincoln Allen elected to board of Caribbean Postal Union

Postmaster General and CEO, Lincoln Allen, was elected to the management board of the Caribbean Postal Union (CPU).

Elections were had at the recently concluded staging of the Caribbean Council of Ministers of Postal Affair (CCMPA) held June 3-7, 2024 under the theme Promoting Inclusion, Reinforcing
Relevance’.

The board which will serve for two (2) years also saw Samuel Brangman, Postmaster-General of Bermuda elected to the post of secretary general.

Held annually, this year’s staging in Grand Cayman, underscored the commitment to enhance inclusivity and relevance across regional postal services.

Other highlights included the inauguration of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Regional Strategy Forum series, an initiative aimed at gathering global input to influence the UPU’s strategy framework for
2026-2029.

Additionally, key decisions were taken including the finalization of the regional strategy and implementation plan for postal and courier services, developed jointly in collaboration with the CARICOM Secretariat.

The plan was endorsed by the ministers in attendance.

Jamaica’s delegation at the event was led by Senator Dr. Dana Morris Dixon, Minister with responsibility for Information, Skills and Digital Transformation.

Minister Morris Dixon was joined by Lincoln Allen, Postmaster-General/CEO, Jamaica Post, Cecil McCain, Director of Post and Telecommunications in the Office of the Prime Minister, and Davey Haughton, Policy and Research Coordinator in the Post and Telecommunications Department.

Established in 1997, the CPU is a restricted union of the UPU and plays a crucial role in fostering collaboration of postal administrations among CARICOM member countries.
