Popular IT professional’s sudden death rocks community, friends in state of disbelief

The sudden death of Roger Davis, has sent shockwaves across the local Information and Communications Technology (ICT) community.

The Den understands that Davis, who was employed to the Jamaica Observer, passed away late Tuesday (October 5).

Davis passed away while  making his way to hospital to undergo dialysis .

Prior to his passing, Davis had been very vocal about his health condition.

He in March 2020 post noted with concern that lack of information available about COVID-19 for those with underlying conditions.

“Dear government of Jamaica, you’re doing a great job disseminating information about #Covid19. However, are there any special measures being put in place for people like myself with kidney failure or folks with other underlying conditions, who may eventually get #Covid19″ Davis asked in a March 16, 2020 post on Facebook.

Following Davis’ passing several friends have expressed disbelief, adding that they had only recently been in contact with him.

” I was just in contact with him a day or so ago, I just, today, asked if he was good and found it strange that he didn’t respond. And now I know why, “one friend told  The Den. 

” I just can’t believe it, it is simply not true,” added another.

Since February 2012, Davis worked with the Jamaica Observer as a web developer.
