ESPN to broadcast EPL in the Caribbean-Reports

Following news that VertiCast Media has discontinued its broadcasting of the popular English Premier League (EPL), ESPN is reported to be the new broadcaster of the fixture.

While there has not been any official announcement from the entity, this development has been making rounds on social media with at least one media house having said that the US based broadcaster is tipped to take over the role.

VertiCast, through its C Sport subsidiary, had acquired the rights for the league from the 22/23 season to 24/25 season. It provided access to the matches through an app and also through CVM TV which also falls under the VertiCast banner.

However last season, the distribution was plagued with several issues which included the lack of games being broadcasted to subscribers. Reports also came forward that VertiCast had taken the two major providers of cable, Flow and Digicel to court over claims of anti-competitive practices.

Flow and Digicel, have allegedly refused to strike a deal with VertiCast which would have allowed CSport to subsequently broadcast matches via those mediums. The outcome of the case is still outstanding.

However, if true, fans will be able to access ESPN and its services through various cable providers and other platforms, and should allow fans to access the most watched football league on the planet. However those conditions of access are not yet known.
