Chairman of the St Mary Municipal Corporation, Richard Creary, is urging councillors to get vaccinated noting that it was a necessary safety measure for face to face meetings.
According to Creary, the municipal corporation had been conducting face to face meetings, however it is unclear whether the participants had been vaccinated.
Creary said that the time had come for persons wishing to participate in face to face meetings to submit proof of their vaccination status.
The chairman was quick to note that the unvaccinated would not be excluded from meetings, but had the option to participate online.
Creary noted added that he thought providing proof of a recent PCR or antigen test would be to costly for some.
The move to provide proof of vaccination had been discussed at recent meeting of the corporation, however it is unclear whether consensus was achieved on the matter.
