Man charged for murder in connection with ritualistic killings at MoBay church

31-year-old Andre Ruddock of Lower King Street, Montego Bay in St. James has been charged with Murder and Conspiracy to Murder.

Ruddock is charged in connection with the October 17 slayings that took place at the Pathway International Kingdom Restoration Ministries.

Other members of the religious institution were fined for breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA).

Thirty-nine members pleaded guilty to the charges and were each fined JMD 30,000 or two days in prison.

They were collectively ordered to pay a total of JM $1,170,000 when they appeared in the St. James Parish Court on Wednesday (October 27).

The church leader, Kevin Smith, escaped charged after he died in a crash on Monday.

Smith died while being transported from Montego Bay to Kingston to face charges connected to the suspected ritual killings.

It is still unclear how the crash occurred.

The Major Investigations Division continues to probe the incident.
