Suspect in Haitian President’s assassination arrested in Jamaica

A former Colombian military officer, Mario Palacios, was arrested in Kingston earlier this month.

Palacios is a  key suspect in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse.

According to a report in the Miami Herald, the arrest which had remained secret was confirmed by multiple Haitian sources speaking to the publication under the condition of anonymity.

Reports out of Haiti are that it was mainly former Colombian soldiers that were commissioned to take out the hit on Moïse on July 7.

Moïse was shot multiple times, while his wife, Martine, was seriously injured.

None of the president’s security detail was killed or injured.

In total, 44 people have been arrested in connection with the assassination of the former president.
