Mr. Vegas throws shade at the Duchess of Cambridge in IG post

Dancehall artiste, Mr. Vegas, took to his Instagram (IG) page on Thursday (March 24) with a photo of the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton with the caption, “The premier of the new film, Caged”.

The ‘Sweet Jamaica’ singer seemingly suggests that the photo is a representation of how enslaved Jamaicans are to the royals.

In the IG post made on Thursday, the Duchess can be seen smiling as she greeted Jamaicans from the opposite side of a chain-linked fence.

Following Vega’s post, his comment section erupted with IG users who agree with him.

The always outspoken singjay quickly jumped into the comment section to make it clear that he, however, is no longer subjugated.

“I am from the cage,” he said.

The 47-year-old was responding to one IG user in particular who commented “This is the same way Jamaican are caged when Mr. Vegas is doing a show no difference.”

Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton are visiting the island in an 8-day long tour of the Caribbean to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee, marking her 70 years on the English throne.

William and Kate are expected to depart the island on Thursday for the Bahamas.

Instagram users react

“Wow it be our own they’ll defend even the slave master’s kids over their own brothers and sisters coming out in numbers to celebrate the slave master’s offsprings,” one user said.

Another chimed in saying “This is how they want to keep the people.”

So sad, modern slavery,” another added.
