Baby Cham, Dexta Daps and LaaLee join Tanya Stephens in surprise performance at I Love Souls

Reggae artiste Tanya Stephens had a big surprise in store for fans who came out to see her at Sunday’s staging of I Love Souls.

The event held at weekly at Jangas was the site of much energy and excitement when mid performance the veteran entertainer pulled dancehall heavy weight Baby Cham on stage.

Cham was followed by show- stopper Dexta Daps who also rocked the microphone with Stephens.

Daps sent the ladies into a frenzy as he teased a few of his hits including ‘Seven Eleven,’ ‘Owner,’ and ‘’Shabba Madda Pot’.

Dancehall newcomer and crowd favourite La Lee also hit the stage, further helping to bolster the patron experience with hits like ‘Tip Inna It’ and ‘Cornflakes and Gully Water’.

One of the show organizer’s Ferhandi Henry shared that the performances were a delightful surprise to his team, who were responsible for organizing and promoting the event.

“While I knew that some of the artiste were in the audience, it was not planned. Remember reggae and dancehall are a community which prior to my transition to a traditional ‘9 to 5’ I was more fully immersed in. Tanya is also a well-respected artiste. I think it was on her merit and the general vibe of the night that they just decided to do their thing,” said Henry.

Henry used the opportunity to share that while the added cadre of artistes took the show to a new level, he is happy to see that people still enjoy soulful, soft music.

“What we tried to do with I Love Soul is find an artiste that connects with the brand, that soft soulful, reggae sound and Tanya was the ideal fit and, I am pleased that the crowd responded well,” he added.

I Love Souls is a weekly event sponsored by St. Rémy Signature & Yellow Tail which serves up a selection of soul and reggae music, catering to a more mature audience.
